Dog Training with the W.O.L.F Approach
Individual Training for the Dog in Front of You
Training Guided by W.O.L.F
W.O.L.F stands for Watch, Observe, Lead and Facilitate. It is the framework that underpins all of our training services.
Watch your dog’s body language, emotional state and behaviour.
Observe the environment, triggers, motivations and other influencing factors.
Lead with clear, fair and consistent communication and guidance.
Facilitate success through thoughtful training, appropriate management and realistic opportunities to make the right choices.
W.O.L.F is not a rigid training method or a one-size-fits-all formula. It helps us understand the dog and situation before deciding on the most appropriate way to respond.
Whether you are preparing for a new puppy, navigating adolescence or struggling with a more complex behavioural concern, our training is shaped around your individual dog and your everyday life.
At Delightful Dog Days, we use the W.O.L.F Approach to look beyond the behaviour we can immediately see. We consider what your dog is communicating, what may be influencing their choices, what guidance they need, and how we can make success more likely.
Our aim is to give you practical skills, clear guidance and a better understanding of your dog, so that you can continue making progress between sessions and long after your programme has ended.

Building Strong Foundations for Everyday Life
The W.O.L.F Puppy Programme is designed for puppies who are already at home and are ready to begin developing practical life skills. It helps owners understand the “why” behind their puppy’s behaviour while building clear communication, confidence and good habits from the beginning.
Rather than focusing only on obedience, we look at the whole puppy. This includes their body language, emotional development, environment, natural behaviours, individual motivation and ability to cope with new experiences.
Depending on your puppy and your goals, training may include:
Understanding puppy body language and behaviour
Marker-word training and clear communication
Engagement and focus around distractions
Recall foundations
Loose lead walking
Calmness and impulse control
Confidence building and appropriate socialisation
Handling and cooperative-care foundations
Crate training, settling and independence
Appropriate outlets for biting, chewing and other natural behaviours
Every programme is adapted to the individual puppy and household. Detailed handouts are included to help you practise between sessions.
This is a six-session programme, which provides structured support with the essential foundations your puppy needs for everyday life.
Six sessions: £240

The eight-session programme includes additional time for guided practice, real-life training and support with your puppy’s individual needs. It is suitable for owners who would benefit from a gentler pace or more opportunities to apply skills in different environments.

If your dog is entering their teenage phase and you would like support in guiding them through it, get in touch today. Together we will help your adolescent dog grow into a calm, confident, and happy companion.
The Teenage Phase
Adolescence can be one of the most challenging stages of life with a dog. Skills that previously seemed reliable may become more difficult, distractions can feel more exciting, and changes in confidence, independence and emotional regulation can affect behaviour both at home and out on walks.
Guided by the W.O.L.F Approach, our W.O.L.F Adolescent Dog Programme help you look beyond labels such as stubborn or disobedient. You will learn to recognise what your dog is communicating, understand how their development, hormones, environment, experiences and genetics may be influencing their behaviour, and provide the clear, fair and consistent guidance they need.
Training can include engagement around distractions, impulse control, recall, loose lead walking, calmness, confidence and appropriate behaviour around people and other dogs. Both courses include real-life training and guided practice, helping you apply what you learn confidently and consistently in everyday situations.

Support Through the Teenage Phase
Adolescence can bring changes in confidence, focus, independence and emotional regulation. Skills that seemed reliable during puppyhood may become more difficult, distractions can feel more rewarding, and your dog may begin testing behaviours in new situations.
This does not mean that your previous training has failed. Your dog is moving through an important developmental stage and may need clearer guidance, refreshed foundations and more support to make good choices.
The W.O.L.F Adolescent Programme helps you understand the changes taking place while continuing to build practical skills for adulthood. Depending on your dog and your goals, training may include:
Understanding adolescent development and behaviour
Engagement and focus around distractions
Recall regression and long-line work
Loose lead walking
Overexcitement and jumping up
Impulse control and frustration tolerance
Calmness around people and dogs
Confidence in new environments
Settling and appropriate boundaries
Cooperative-care foundations
Detailed handouts are provided to support your practice at home and help maintain progress between sessions.
The Six-Session W.O.L.F Adolescent Programme option is suitable for existing clients or dogs who already have useful foundations and need structured support through adolescence.

Every dog is different and so is every owner. If you would like to learn more about how a 1-2-1 package could help, Contact Us and we will help you find the perfect fit for you and your dog.
Individual Support for Training and Behavioural Concerns
If you are unsure why a behaviour is happening or need support with a more complex concern, the first step is an Initial Training Consultation.
The consultation allows us to look at the full picture rather than offering generic advice based on one behaviour. We will discuss your dog’s history, health, daily routine, environment, relationships, previous training and the situations in which the concern occurs.
Using the W.O.L.F framework, we will consider what your dog is communicating, what may be influencing the behaviour, what guidance is needed, and how their training or environment can be adapted to make success more likely.
